A 'writing bio' can be such an obstacle to sending out your writing, at the start. I used to agonise over it and sometimes just stop halfway through submitting a poem or story. These days, though, I just browse my bio doc to pick one of the right length. That's what I want for you! So let's do it: write your bio, so you can send writing out, so you can get published.
Write Your Bio workshop
- What will I do? Write your bio: a short paragraph about yourself, which journals and agents ask for when you send writing in.
- What will I get? Clear guidance to build your confidence, advice on what to include, and tips for editing it. At the end of the workshop, you'll have the start of your own bio doc, with 1–2 bios ready to cut and paste.
- I don’t think I’ll need a bio for a while… Honestly, if you want to send writing out in future, I’d recommend doing it now, with low stakes. Then when you do need it, it’s ready to go. (Same as I suggest for synopses.)
- Will there be a replay? Yes. If you can't make it live, book to get access to the replay. If you can make it to the live, you'll also get the chance to ask questions and get help editing it.
- Will I have my mic / camera on? Yes: it's an interactive workshop, and you'll be chatting with other students in small groups and joining in whole-group discussions / feedback. You will not appear on the replay.

- When: Thurs 22 May, 6–7pm UK time, plus a replay available for one week
- Where: On Zoom, join from anywhere. The replay will be available for a week afterwards.
- Price: £20
- Numbers: No minimum or maximum on places

What's a Let's Do It workshop?
Most of my courses and workshops are designed for breadth: they whisk you through a wide repertoire of tools and strategies, with short bursts to rapidly try them out, then take them home to use at your own pace.
The Let's Do It workshops are designed for depth: they hone in on 1–2 tools or activities, with much more time to actually do it, in the workshop. Plus time to workshop it, discuss it, and ask questions.
