30 Days of Writing

30 days of inspiring writing suggestions with guided options for flash-fiction (very short fiction) or poems each day. Text | Self-paced.

If you want to build a healthy writing habit, develop as a writer, and find joy in writing, 30 Days of Writing will take you on a delightful adventure – and teach you loads.

  • The wide variety of rich, specific suggestions will inspire you and make it easy to write.
  • Develop as a writer, as each day introduces new skills for fiction or poems and helps you try them out.
  • Writing for well-being: each day’s topics are carefully designed to be uplifting, so you can put your mind somewhere interesting, relaxing, and fun.

As this is a new Evergreen Resource, all reviews are from previous courses and workshops.

‘Megan balances a radical focus on joy in the process with a real sense of direction and development. ’ – Anja
‘Like many others, ever since I discovered Megan I've been enrolling on course after course – they're all brilliant!’ – Heike
‘I didn't think it was possible to be so vivid and practical about creativity.’ – Dee

Inside each of your 30 days, you’ll get

  • A specific, generative suggestion of what to write about (not broad topics that leave you stranded!) plus extra resources to explore where that’s helpful.
  • A flash-fiction option: Tips on how to turn that into a story. Over the 30 days, these will develop your fiction skills, including story structure, characters, endings, voice, genres, and formats. You’ll also get playful creative approaches for the process.
  • A poem-it option: Tips on how to turn that into a poem. Over the 30 days, these will develop your poetry skills, including musicality, original language, rhyme, and metre. Plus the suggested and optional poem forms will introduce you to over 30 poetic forms to try out, with helpful examples.
‘Joyous, fresh, intelligent, challenging and freeing. Somehow Megan manages to both free one up from any fear, and at the same time impart sound principles.’ – Jammy Shan

Will the 30 Days of Writing work for me?

  • I haven’t written before: will this work for me? Absolutely: you’ll get clear friendly guidance throughout, so you can learn about writing through doing it.
  • I’m an experienced writer: will this be useful? Definitely. The flash-fiction guidance will remind you of the essentials and encourage you to experiment. The poem guidance will introduce you to heaps of poetic forms and approaches. And using someone else’s topic suggestions is often the extra stimulus we need to inspire us and to widen our repertoire.
  • Do I have to do it daily? No. A daily practice can be a fantastic thing to try, but doesn’t suit everyone. The “Use it now” option gives you 90 days’ access, or you can choose “Keep it forever”.
  • How long will each day take? With poems and flash-fiction, that’s a bit “how long is a piece of string”, but generally at least 20 minutes and allow up to an hour. (Some days might be quicker. Some suggested poetry forms might take longer, but you don’t have to choose those.)
  • Can I try it out first? Yes! You can get the first 3 days free, to see how it works for you.

Choose the option that suits you

  • Want a motivating deadline? Use It Now (£60) gives you 90 days’ access to the 30 Days.
  • What to keep it forever? Keep It Forever (£120) means you can use it and resuse it whenever you want.
  • Want to try it for free first? Get the first 3 days free.
‘Megan somehow curates unique courses that never feel dull, or like hard work, but still push and challenge. I recommend any writer, new or experienced, to make use of The Writer's Greenhouse.’ – Rosie
